Democrat Steve Toprani has conceded in the 49th Legislative District contest.

Toprani announced his concession on a Facebook post early Sunday morning.

“The outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for, but in narrow losses it’s important to take stock of what we achieved: a full, fair and honest discussion of the issues important to our Valley,” Toprani wrote.

Toprani also credited Republican incumbent state Rep. Bud Cook with “a spirited race” and wished him well in his second term.

“I call on him to put partisanship aside and fight for us everyday in Harrisburg,” Toprani wrote. “Our future depends on it.”
