A Houston man was arrested at his home Christmas Eve after a domestic disturbance during which he allegedly threatened to burn down the house.

Chartiers Township police said James Russell Donahue Jr., 39, of 653 N. Main St., appeared to be “highly intoxicated” and admitted to them that he had consumed “at least” a 12-pack of beer and “a few shots” just before 11 p.m. when the incident occurred.

Donahue allegedly had argued with a woman at the residence and threatened to burn down the house and burn her van. Police said Donahue then pushed the woman to the floor, causing an injury to her leg, before fleeing to a neighbor’s home, where he was later arrested.

Police said two children witnessed the incident.

Donahue was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment. He was arraigned Christmas morning by District Judge Mark Wilson and jailed on $5,000 bond.
