Man pleads guilty to rape of a child
Joseph Andrew Brown, 53, formerly of North Franklin Township, was sentenced to eight to 16 years in prison on Friday in Washington County Court after pleading guilty to felony rape of a child.
Judge Gary Gilman gave Brown, who was arrested in 2015, credit for time served and ordered that he have no contact with the victim or her family. He also deemed Brown to be ineligible for a recidivism risk reduction incentive that would allow him to serve a shorter sentence.
Donegal Township police received a complaint about Brown committing sexual assault in the Washington and Claysville areas. The Washington County district attorney’s sex crimes unit pressed charges because of jurisdiction in multiple municipalities.
