Hanover man accused of assaulting troopers
A Hanover Township man was arraigned Wednesday on charges filed by state police after he allegedly assaulted two troopers last month.
Bryan D. Custer, 31, of 28 Windy Hill Lane, Burgettstown, was taken into custody on a warrant.
A trooper from the Pittsburgh station was called to Custer’s home by a woman after he reportedly returned to their home intoxicated Jan. 22. The trooper was speaking with Custer when the Hanover man allegedly punched him in the face and tried to run.
Two more troopers arrived to assist. When Custer was caught, he reportedly struggled with one of the troopers, who used a Taser to subdue Custer.
When the troopers tried to take Custer into custody, he allegedly started to fight them again and punched a second trooper. That trooper also used a Taser on Custer.
Custer was arraigned before District Judge Traci McDonald on two counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment and one count each of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Havelka Feb. 8.
