Fire destroys home Saturday morning in Monongahela Township
A fire destroyed a house Saturday morning on Robena Road in Monongahela Township.
Greensboro-Monongahela Township Volunteer Fire Company was called to the split-entry home at 117 Robena Road about 6:30 a.m., fire Chief Gary Drew said.
When firefighters arrived, the fire was burning particularly heavy on one side of the house, where it apparently started, Drew said.
The occupants were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm. They fled the home and called 911, Drew said. The home was being rented by Travis Corso. The names of the other occupants were not available.
Two adults and a child were assisted with resources to purchase clothing and food following the fire, according to the American Red Cross of Western Pennsylvania.
Drew said the house was a “total loss.” The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state police fire marshal, though it is not believed to be suspicious, he said.
The fire company was on the scene until about 11 a.m. It was assisted by fire companies from Carmichaels, Bobtown and Mt. Morris.
