Former South Franklin resident killed in San Francisco
A former South Franklin Township resident was murdered in San Francisco last week.
According to reports from the San Francisco Police Department and the city’s medical examiner, Andrew Emmett, 31, was the victim of a homicide Feb. 7 in the city’s Central District. Police said Emmett was found unconscious about 6:38 p.m. in the 500 block of Post Street.
Paramedics responded to the scene and tried to revive Emmett, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in a news release issued the following day. After evaluating Emmett’s injuries, the medical examiner determined it was a homicide.
Police detained three suspects in the case Feb. 8, after serving a search warrant at a residence in Petaluma, which is about 40 miles north of San Francisco. Police said “interviews and evidence obtained from the investigation” led them to the three “persons of interest,” who have not been identified.
Emmett’s parents, Dan and Joan Emmett, live in South Franklin Township. Joan Emmett told a reporter Monday she didn’t know why her son was in San Francisco, because he didn’t live there. She said he had been in this area over the summer.
San Francisco police have asked anyone with information about the case to call their anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444.
