Burglar steals Schwan’s truck, leaves behind golf cart
A burglar who broke into a South Strabane Township food delivery business over the weekend apparently traded up for a new vehicle, driving off in a delivery truck and leaving behind a golf utility cart.
When two workers arrived at Schwan’s, 1700 Route 136, just after 3 a.m. Monday, they discovered that the office had been burglarized and one of the delivery trucks had been stolen. Left near where the truck had been parked was a green Club Car golf utility cart that was stolen from Tower Golf and Entertainment Center, 375 Berry Road, also in South Strabane.
Detective Ken Torboli said the burglary and thefts happened between noon Saturday, when Schwan’s closed for the weekend, and early Monday, when the burglary was reported to the 911 center.

“There is no evidence to make us believe that the cart was transported to Schwan’s other than being driven there,” Torboli said. “I can’t believe that it was driven over the road, but there is no other explanation as to how it got there.”
Torboli did not know how many miles it is between Tower and Schwan’s. But the route would have been a hilly one and required at least some travel along Route 136.
Employees of Tower discovered the theft of the cart Monday morning.
The truck, a 2013 Isuzu with license plate ZDN-4187, was loaded with about $6,500 in food. The vehicle was valued at $70,000, police said.
Stolen from the office were a laptop computer and wallets containing small amounts of cash used by drivers on deliveries.
