Washington School Board on Monday approved a preliminary 2018-19 budget that does not include a tax increase.

The $28,365,895 proposed budget keeps the millage rate at 15.1578.

Director of District Operations Rick Mancini said unexpected additional state funding, along with other factors, enabled the school district to hold the tax rate steady.

The school district has until June 30 to adopt a final budget.

Also Monday, the board approved revising the 2017-18 school calendar in order to allow inclement weather make-up days.

Students will attend school on Feb. 19, Presidents Day, and, if school is canceled again due to bad weather, they will attend April 2 and on primary election day, May 15.
