Canton woman accused of kicking trooper
A Canton Township woman was arrested Tuesday morning after she allegedly kicked a state trooper who responded to her home for a domestic incident.
Amanda Renee Wright, 36, of 63 Paxton St., is also accused of assaulting three people, including her 13-year-old son and her nephew.
Police responded to the home about 4:35 a.m. Police said that Wright was out of control. Before police arrived, she allegedly struck and scratched her nephew, shoved her 13-year-old son and then shoved a woman.
When Trooper Christopher Storm tried to take Wright into custody, she reportedly pulled away and resisted. As she continued to resist, Wright allegedly kicked Trooper Scott Dowlin twice in the chest. She continued to resist despite orders to stop.
Police said Wright was highly intoxicated. They were able to take her into custody and take her to the state police barracks in North Bethlehem Township.
Wright was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of assault of a law enforcement officer, simple assault, disorderly conduct, endangering the welfare of children, resisting arrest and harassment. She was placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. Wright is scheduled for a March 13 preliminary hearing before Mark.
