LETTER Enough is enough
Enough is enough
I find it humorous to see all the political ads, editorials and the letters to the editor concerning the upcoming special election to replace Congressman Tim Murphy. Everyone is saying that they are tired of the negative campaigning that is going on, but if you read all the articles, and watch all the commercials, it’s all the same.
I consider the election cycle to be a job interview, and right now neither candidate gets my vote. I am tired of seeing that this candidate did this bad thing, and this candidate took this from someone else, and this candidate said this to someone else.
Who cares?!
You want to win my vote? Stop telling me about the other candidate, and start telling me about you. And I don’t mean bragging about your military service, although this is not meant as an insult to the military. I thank, praise and respect both candidates for their military service. But being in the military, just like being a teacher, or welder, janitor, lawyer, or trust-fund baby does not make you a good politician.
Tell me what you are going to do when you get into office. Tell me how you plan on fixing the economy, the health care crisis including mental health issues and the opioid epidemic, and the violence that is plaguing our schools, churches and public events.
How do you plan on getting both sides of the aisle to work together? In other words, how do you plan to help me as one of your constituents?
Right now, neither Democrat Conor Lamb nor Republican Rick Saccone has done that.
“I’m tired of it year after year after year having to choose between the lesser of who cares.” That’s a line from the television show “The West Wing.” This election is the same.
I am writing in my own candidate for this election: “None of the above.”
