Monongahela has been awarded state funding to upgrade a traffic signal in a project designed to relieve congestion on Main Street.

The city was awarded $213,000 from the state Department of Transportation for an automated traffic enforcement signal at Ninth and Main streets, Gov. Tom Wolf announced Monday.

It was part of $11.5 million announced for municipalities across the state for similar projects.
