No one was injured Monday evening in a fire, which destroyed a home in the 500 block of Forest Street in Monessen.

One unidentified person was able to escape from the residence before firefighters arrived at the scene at 6:04 p.m., Monessen fire chief Chris Rhome said.

Two people lived in the residence, but only one was present when the fire broke out, Rhome said.

Charleroi, Carroll Township, Donora and Belle Vernon firefighters assisted at the scene, Rhome said.

Food, clothing and temporary lodging were provided to the residents of the home by Red Cross of Western Pennsylvania.

The blaze is being investigated by the state police fire marshal, Rhome said.
