A Washington man was arraigned Wednesday on charges stemming from an allegation he had inappropriate contact with a young girl at a home in the city.

Michael Solomon, 40, faces one count each of aggravated indecent assault of a child and indecent assault. City police filed charges following a report from the alleged victim’s mother, who said the incident occurred Dec. 16 while Solomon was watching the girl.

The girl later described the alleged incident to police and said she’d told Solomon she “didn’t want to do this anymore,” police said in court papers. She said Solomon “apologized for having upset her,” according to police.

The girl also reportedly told police it was the first instance of that type of conduct.

Solomon reportedly denied the allegation but “did provide several inconsistent statements as to events prior to, during and immediately following the incident,” according to charging papers.

Solomon was placed in Washington County Jail following his arraignment before District Judge Robert Redlinger, who set bond at $25,000. Court records don’t list an attorney for him.
