Firefighters from North Franklin Township and surrounding townships were called late Saturday afternoon to Angelo’s restaurant for a reported fire.

North Franklin fire Chief Dave Bane said the call came in about 4:35 p.m. for a report of a fire in a wood burning oven inside the restaurant at 2109 N. Franklin Drive. Bane said there was no fire, but embers from the stove went up the exhaust stack and onto the roof.

Restaurant employees cleaned out the oven, used in the preparation of bread and some appetizers, and removed wood, Bane said. The oven was put out of service until it can be inspected.

Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Canton, South Franklin and South Strabane townships. Firefighters were on the scene for about 30 minutes.
