Gas pipeline projects to begin

Starting this month, Columbia Gas will begin work on pipeline upgrade projects affecting customers in Charleroi, Allenport and Donora.

In Charleroi, the work to replace 6,226 feet of pipe will take place on Crest Alley, Crest Avenue, Gar Street, 11th Street, Ninth Street, Eighth Street, Meadow Avenue, Sixth Street, Fifth Street, Fourth Street, Third Street and Second Street.

In Allenport, the work to replace 9,290 feet of pipe will occur on Lynn Street, Main Street, White Alley, Underwood Street, Grant Street, Furlong Avenue, River Street, May Street, Duncan Street, Watson Lane, Libby Lane, Cowen Street, Hamilton Avenue, Elm Avenue, Jefferson Street, Short Street, Franklin Street, Railroad Street, Bow Street, Chestnut Street, Pine Street, Maple Street, Walnut Street, Elm Street and Route 88.

Work to replace 2,364 feet of pipe in Donora will occur on Chestnut Street, Ida Avenue, Bertha Avenue, Modisette Avenue and Pine Alley.

All work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with weekend work possible. There may be temporary lane closures during working hours.
