BUFFALO

Car hits tree: Jennifer Brown, 47, of Washington, escaped injury when her vehicle ran off Constitution Boulevard, about a half-mile north of Sunset Beach Road, and hit a tree head-on about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, state police said. Brown left the scene, police said, and was cited for failing to notify police of an accident. 

CALIFORNIA

Boyfriend arrested: James Patrick Smith, 27, of California, was arrested early Monday by California police on charges of aggravated assault, former convict not to possess a firearm, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a confrontation at his Wilson Road home. She was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital and later transferred to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh. Police said they found a number of weapons in Smith’s home, including a gun. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.

CANONSBURG

Assault arrest: David Maga, 52, of 208 W.College St., Canonsburg, was arrested Sunday night by Canonsburg police on charges of aggravated assault, harassment and reckless endangerment after he allegedly sliced a 23-year-old Canonsburg man’s throat with a buck knife. The alleged victim reportedly got into a confrontation with Maga’s daughter over missing money. Maga claimed the younger man came after him. Police said there was a red mark on the victim’s neck, but no blood. Maga was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bond.

DUI alleged in crash: Jason Snider, 43, of 231 Taylor Drive, Canonsburg, will be charged by Canonsburg police with driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly crashed into a utility pole before striking a parked vehicle about 6 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of West College Street. Police said Snider’s blood-alcohol content was 3 1/2 times the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed.

Urinals damaged: The owner of Guntown Beer, 585 W. Pike St., told Canonsburg police two urinals in the men’s restroom were damaged. Charges are pending.

Change stolen: Steven Kirby of Highland Avenue told Canonsburg police Friday change was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked outside his home.

NORTH STRABANE

Driver charged: Mark R. Shultz Jr., 35, of Avonmore, Westmoreland County, was charged last week by North Strabane police with driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and traffic violations stemming from a Dec. 16 traffic stop on Route 19 at Meadowbrook Drive. Police said they found two bags of marijuana and paraphernalia.

SOUTH STRABANE

Theft arrest: James Wesley Dillon, 31, of Beallsville, Ohio, was arrested Saturday night by South Strabane police on charges of retail theft, theft by deception and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly stole a duffel bag from Kohl’s, Strabane Square, and returned it without a receipt. Police said he continued to walk through the store and stole two more items. When police stopped his van, they said they found paraphernalia. Dillon was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

WASHINGTON

Endangerment arrest: David D. Brooks, 46, of 849 Addison St., Washington, was arrested early Sunday by Washington police on charges of unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment and harassment after he allegedly pointed a gun at a 47-year-old woman inside the home and refused to let her leave the residence during a confrontation that started the previous day. He also allegedly slammed her against a wall and hit her. Police ordered Brooks out of the home, and he met police in the street a few doors away from his home. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.

Assault alleged: Monica Hoberek, 37, of Washington, told Washington police Saturday her boyfriend hit her in the back of the head during a confrontation in the 100 block of Brookside Avenue. Charges are pending. 

Account accessed: Judith Beck of Washington told Washington police Saturday someone tampered with her Verizon account, canceling it and moving her service to another provider. 

Glass door broken: Vandals apparently used a rock to break the glass on the front door at Dollar General, 130 Highland Ave., Saturday, Washington police said.

Alarm charge: Bertram Mitchell of 473 E. Hallam Ave., Washington, faces a false alarm charge after Washington police responded to his home for an alarm activation Friday. He was charged earlier this month with two false alarms.

Tools stolen: Manuel Vizcam Esqunal of 235 W. Chestnut St. told Washington police Saturday a tool set and other items were stolen from his property.

Tool sets stolen: Steve Ringer of 520 Duncan Ave. told Washington police Friday a socket set and wrench set were stolen from his property.
