Charges will be filed against a Canon-McMillan High School student who allegedly sent a racially charged threat using social media to a 15-year-old student who also attends the high school.

Canonsburg police Chief Alex Coghill said on Friday that police completed an investigation and charges will be filed against the student sometime next week.

On Jan. 13, the victim received a Snapchat message that threatened him with lynching.

The school district also investigated the incident after the victim’s parents reported it to school officials.

Coghill did not specify what charges the student will face for sending the message.
