Firearms charges: City police charged Timothy A. Pace, 33, of Monessen, Wednesday with possessing a firearm when prohibited, receiving stolen property, false identification to law enforcement and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. Local police and Westmoreland County sheriff’s deputies allegedly found items including an SKS rifle, suspected marijuana-related paraphernalia and a stolen city street sign during a search of Pace’s McKean Avenue home that day, according to court papers. Police said Pace, who initially gave them a false name, is barred from possessing a gun because of a 2002 conviction. Pace was arraigned Wednesday and is free on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Roger Eckels.

Theft charge: Township police charged Michael A. Anderson, 58, of Seventh Street, Charleroi, with theft and receiving stolen property. Anderson allegedly took a $100 bill a person ahead of him in line at the Rostraver Square Walmart’s money center had accidentally left on the counter Jan. 12. Charges were sent by summons from District Judge Joseph Dalfonso’s office Wednesday.
