Latrobe man charged in Chartiers robbery
A Westmoreland County man was arrested and a warrant will be obtained for his alleged accomplice after they reportedly robbed a couple at gunpoint.
Sequan Hashin Pray, 22, of Latrobe, and a 23-year-old man are accused of robbing the two of a cellphone they planned to sell to the two men.
One of the victims told Chartiers Township police she set up the sale of the cellphone through the 23-year-old, who was a mutual friend to a man later identified as Pray. They arranged to meet at a location at 2200 Henderson Ave.
The 23-year-old accomplice was driving the vehicle and Pray was a front-seat passenger. The woman reportedly handed over the cellphone and asked for $175. The two reportedly offered to give her Xanax, but she told them she wanted money.
Pray then reportedly pulled a pistol from the waistband of his pants and threatened to harm the woman and her boyfriend.
The couple flagged down a Mt. Pleasant Township police officer, who then alerted Chartiers police.
Police found Pray inside a trailer in a lot at 2200 Henderson. The gun, a 9mm semiautomatic handgun, was recovered. It had been reported stolen. The alleged accomplice was not found, but police plan to get a warrant for his arrest.
Pray was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins on charges of robbery, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, theft, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $75,000 bond. Pray is scheduled for a Feb. 13 preliminary hearing before District Judge David Mark.
