CALIFORNIA
Driver faces charge: David Scott Zahand, 49, of Charleroi, faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash on Route 88 near Sloan Drive early Sunday, California police said. Police said he failed several field sobriety tests and was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital, where blood was drawn.
CANTON
Assault alleged: Jessica Renee Vanderlee, 36, of 2793 W. Chestnut St., Canton Township, is charged by state police with simple assault and harassment over allegations she splashed Franklin Deleno Donley in the eye with fabric softener and pushed him into a washing machine about 10:25 a.m. Saturday in her residence, court records show. Vanderlee was placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
CHARLEROI
Man jailed: Raymond A. Dickerson, 47, of 517 First St., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with strangulation, simple assault and harassment, court records show. Police accuse Dickerson of choking Nikia Johnson at his residence and then striking Ken Lampenfeld in the mouth when he attempted to intervene about 11 p.m. Saturday. Dickerson was placed in Washington County Jail on $35,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Assault alleged: Justin David Key, 28, of 978 Thompson Ave., Donora, and Sayvon Ronnell Carter, 21, of 1106 Lower Crest Ave., Charleroi, are charged by Charleroi Regional police with simple assault, court records show. The men are accused of following Eddison Harris to his residence at 936 McKean Ave., where he was struck many times in his head and torso about 4 a.m. Monday, police said. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charges by summons.
DONORA
Theft alleged: Michelle R. Rose, 49, of 584 Thompson Ave., Donora, is charged by borough police with theft over accusations she cashed three checks on closed accounts totaling $170 in November and December at Union Pharmacy, 601 McKean Ave., court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charge by summons Monday.
NORTH STRABANE
Driver injured: Patrick O’Toole, 51, of Dravosburg, was injured early Sunday when his vehicle went off Route 519 at the railroad tracks near Wilson Road. North Strabane police said his vehicle went off the right side of the road and hit the guardrail. The vehicle then went over an embankment before hitting a cement culvert box and flipping onto its right side. O’Toole, who was partially ejected, was pinned by the vehicle. Two passersby by were able to push the vehicle off him, flipping it back onto the wheels to free him. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. North Strabane firefighters assisted at the scene.
Assault arrest: Nicholas Allen Kramer, 31, of 113 Demar Boulevard, North Strabane, was arrested Sunday morning by township police after he allegedly assaulted his 35-year-old girlfriend at their home. He allegedly grabbed her and threw her to the floor. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released from Washington County Jail after posting $25,000 bond.
SOUTH STRABANE
Four face charges: Kameron Lee Patterson, 18, of 157 Lawrence Ave., Washington, Jalon Brown, 19, who has no known address, and two 17-year-old Washington boys were arrested Friday night by South Strabane police on charges of receiving stolen property, conspiracy and criminal mischief stemming from an incident in the 1300 block of Locust Avenue. Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle. When police arrived, they say the four got out and ran. The vehicle had been reported stolen. Police found the four not far from where the car had been abandoned. Patterson and Brown were both arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County Jail. Brown was denied bond because he does not have an address. Patterson’s bond is $25,000. Juvenile probation was contacted, and the 17-year-old boys were released to their parents.
WASHINGTON
Man cut: Lester Cole, 52, of 560 1/2 Broad St., Washington, was arrested Saturday by Washington police on charges of aggravated and simple assault. He is accused of cutting a 47-year-old Washington man in the chest with a box cutter during a confrontation at his Broad Street home. Cole was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond.
Harassment, loitering arrest: Brian J. Hooder, 50, of 395 Donnan Ave., Washington, was arrested Sunday by Washington police on charges of harassment and loitering and prowling at night. He is accused of going to a 39-year-old woman’s apartment on North Main Street and yelling foul language at her. Police later found him on a nearby street. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond.
Vehicle stolen: Caleb Pemberton of South Strabane Township told Washington police early Friday that his silver 2012 Ford Escape was stolen from the 1000 block of Sycamore Avenue. He told police that the car, with license plate JLC-9665, was unlocked with the keys inside it.
Package stolen: Michael Kuzma of 365 E. Maiden St. told Washington police Friday that an AT&T modem delivered to his home by UPS was stolen.
Car stolen, recovered: A 2004 Dodge Stratus owned by an Avella woman was stolen Friday from outside Hoy Automotive, 137 Hall Ave. The vehicle had been left running outside the business after a test drive. A man was seen getting in it and driving away. The car was found the following day by South Strabane Township police.
False alarms charge: Bertram Mitchell, 61, of 473 E. Hallam Ave., was charged by Washington police with false alarms after they were called to his home Thursday. It was the fourth time he has been charged this month.
Gift cards stolen: An employee of Shop ‘n Save, 125 W. Beau St., told Washington police Saturday that a Maryland man bought $1,800 in gift cards in transactions using two credit cards. After he left the store, he reportedly called the credit card companies and canceled the sale, claiming it was fraudulent. The store was then charged for the purchase.
Vehicle entered: Rose Vova of 525 Donnan Ave. told Washington police Saturday that her vehicle was broken into, and 12 compact discs and about $30 in change were stolen.
Stolen package: Miah Thomas of 556 W. Chestnut St. told Washington police Saturday that a package containing a cellphone that had been delivered by mail the previous day was stolen from outside her residence.
Deposit stolen: An employee of Brew Avenue, 1060 Jefferson Ave., told Washington police Saturday that a woman who asked to use the restroom stole a deposit bag containing $251 from the office. He went to check on her and saw her leaving. The thief was white and wore a black T-shirt, black jogging pants and white shoes.
Harassment alleged: Michael Gardner, 48, of 895 Ewing St., Washington, will be charged with harassment after he allegedly struck a 56-year-old Washington woman Sunday.
