State police: West Bethlehem man threatened to cut off mom’s head
A West Bethlehem Township man has been charged with threatening Tuesday to cut off his mother’s head and dump her body in the Monongahela River unless she gave him money.
The allegations led state police Wednesday to file charges of attempted theft by extortion, theft of extortion and making terroristic threats against Dillon Andrew Sauers, 28, of 263 Little Creek Road, court records show.
The man’s mother, Sherrill White of the same address, made the allegations after she went to the state police barracks in North Bethlehem Township about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.
She said she woke up about noon that day to find her son standing at the foot of her bed “screaming at the top of his lungs” that he wanted $35,000 or he would kill her, police said.
Sauers allegedly told his mother she would live and never see him again if she made arrangements to withdraw $35,000 from her bank and give him the money, the affidavit states.
Police said he also threatened to tie a concrete block around her legs and throw her into the river.
Sauers is in Washington County jail on $275,000 bond set by District Judge Curtis Thompson.
