Overdose prevention topic of Monessen program
“Learn To Save a Life: Overdose Prevention 101” is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Monessen High School, 1245 State Road.
Open to the public, the program will provide naloxone, known by the brand name Narcan, and overdose prevention training for Mon Valley residents who live in Washington, Westmoreland or Fayette counties.
The training will cover ways to reduce the risk of an accidental overdose; how to identify symptoms of an overdose; what to do and not to do if you are present when a person overdoses; how to administer naloxone; and how Pennsylvania’s Good Samaritan law affects someone who witnesses a drug overdose.
A limited amount of naloxone will be available to individuals who are in need of a take-home supply.
