Authorities have released the identity of a man whose body was found on the Youghiogheny River in Rostraver Township on Tuesday.

Westmoreland County Deputy Coroner Sean Hribal said there “was certainly nothing suspicious in nature” about the death of Leonard Hoffmann, who was found that morning in an area off Route 981 known locally as Smithton Beach.

An obituary for Hoffmann identified him as a 68-year-old who lived in Rostraver.

“We believe that he suffered a medical event, and it just so happened that he was in the water fishing at that particular point in time,” Hribal said.
