A fire early Saturday morning destroyed a house trailer on Key Avenue in a Canton Township mobile home park.

The cause of the fire at 218 Key in Washington Estates is under investigation by the state police fire marshal.

Canton fire Chief Dave Gump said he arrived at the home six minutes after the call came in at 5:12 a.m. and the trailer was already engulfed in flames.

“Fire was coming out of every window,” Gump said.

When firefighters arrived, there was concern one person may have been inside the trailer, but she was later located in another trailer.

Gump said the fire is considered suspicious, saying there was no power, gas or other utilities at the trailer although people had been living in it.

No injuries were reported, but the family’s dog perished in the fire. Assisting were firefighters from Washington and South Strabane Township.
