Firefighters from at least seven departments responded to a fire that heavily damaged a Cumberland Township home Tuesday afternoon. The fire at 615 Crucible Road, just south of Crucible, began about 1:30 p.m. Flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the two-story house. Cumberland police Chief James Vogel said he did not think anyone was hurt in the fire. Crucible firefighters were assisted at the scene by departments from Rices Landing, Carmichaels-Cumberland, Masontown, Jefferson, Waynesburg-Franklin and Nemacolin. The state police fire marshal was also on scene to investigate the cause of the fire, Vogel said. Medics from EMS Southwest treated firefighters who were exhausted from the warm weather while battling the blaze.
