CHARTIERS

Assault arrest: Shayne Kassidy Miller, 33, of 222 W. Country Barn Road, was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Chartiers police after he allegedly pushed his wife and took her cellphone, smashing it and throwing it into the toilet, during a confrontation at their home. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment. He was released from Washington County Jail after posting $20,000 bond.

HANOVER

Charged in crash: Andrea Rochelle Johnson, 25, of Pittsburgh, was charged this week by Hanover police with driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and failure to drive at a safe speed after police say she nearly hit two officers working a traffic detail at Route 18 and Starlake Drive during a torrential downpour June 17. Police said she fled and later crashed on Route 22 eastbound. Her blood-alcohol content was more than 1 1/2 times the limit at which intoxication is presumed, according to police. She also allegedly had marijuana in her system. Charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.

McDONALD

Arrested on warrant: Richard M. Giles, 50, of McDonald, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant obtained by McDonald police charging him with terroristic threats, strangulation, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief. He is accused of assaulting a woman, choking her and threatening to cut her throat. Police said he also used a baseball bat to break items in her East Lincoln Avenue home during the June 14 incident. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond.

MONESSEN

Drug arrest: Tamaar Labryant Pone, 33, of 418 McKee Way, Monessen, is charged by state police with drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession, possession of a small amount of marijuana, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show. Police accuse him of having 370 stamp bags of heroin in his residence, where a trooper stopped his motorcycle after it allegedly went through two stop signs Monday. Police also seized $2,125 from Pone. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bond set by Senior District Judge Herbert G. Mitchell Jr.

ROSTRAVER

Drug charge: Craig James Joseph Berenda, 21, of Jefferson Hills, is charged with drug possession and tampering with evidence over accusations he tossed a small amount of cocaine out of a vehicle after it was involved in an accident about 1:15 a.m. July 10 in the 1000 block of Tyrol Boulevard, court records show. Senior District Judge Herbert G. Mitchell Jr. issued the charges Tuesday in a summons.

SOUTH STRABANE

Elderly woman duped: South Strabane police said an 86-year-old woman was bilked out of $5,000 by three men who came to her home Monday. They asked if she wanted them to pave her driveway. She told them to give her an estimate and come back later. Police said the men did some work and told her that she owed them $5,000. The woman gave them a check. An attempt was made to stop payment on the check, but it already had been cashed.

UNION

Burglary, assault arrest: Keshana Thompson, 18, of Glassport, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Jesse Pettit on charges of burglary, terroristic threats and simple assault filed by Monongahela police after she allegedly forced her way into a home on Oak Lane July 3, assaulted a woman and threatened her. She was placed in Washington County Jail on $125,000 bond.

Husband charged: Kenneth John Peer, 52, of Oliver, Fayette County, was charged this week by Monongahela police with simple assault, strangulation and harassment. He is accused of going to the Elrama home of his estranged wife. The two reportedly got into an argument, and he allegedly choked her and fled before police arrived. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jesse Pettit.

WASHINGTON

Jewelry stolen: Amber McCombs of 490 Duncan Ave. told Washington police Tuesday that four silver rings with different styles and stones were stolen from her home.

Cellphone stolen: Carolyn Tyson of Dunbar told Washington police Tuesday that her cellphone was stolen while she was in the 10 block of West Wheeling Street.

Debit card used: Randy Boardley of 809 N. Main St. told Washington police Tuesday that his debit card was used three times without his permission to make a total of $53.46 in purchases.

Theft charges: Stephanie L. Moore, 40, of Franklin, and Thomas J. Kelly, 40, of Oil City, are being charged with theft, attempted theft and criminal conspiracy after they allegedly tried to take computer speakers from a rack at the Washington County Courthouse June 29, police said. A web camera also was left in a hallway where Moore and Kelly had been, and a video search of the camera showed Kelly getting rid of the webcam and an organizer after a courthouse employee approached him, police said. The charges are being sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
