Hanover Township police filed new charges against a Clearfield County man over various designer drugs, psychedelics and fake $100 bills they allegedly found while searching the car he left behind at KeyBank Pavilion following his arrest during a music festival earlier this month.

Aaron M. Shaffer, 22, of DuBois, was charged on Wednesday with multiple counts each of drug possession with intent to deliver, possessing designer drugs, forgery and possessing drug paraphernalia.

Officer Joseph Leech said in court papers he went to check on a vehicle that was parked in the outdoor concert venue’s parking lot two days after the July 16 Vans Warped Tour. Approaching the vehicle, he reportedly smelled a strong marijuana odor coming from the seals of the rear-passenger window and a pack of rolling papers sticking out of an armrest.

The vehicle was registered to Shaffer. Leech consulted another officer and learned of Shaffer’s arrest during the concert. The amphitheater’s managers also didn’t want the vehicle to remain on the property.

“A vehicle inventory search was started and located inside the vehicle was a pair of two-way radios, new in the box, and a GPS unit, also new in the box behind the rear passenger seat,” Leech wrote. “Behind the rear passenger seat, we located a backpack and a large, white plastic bag, both containing narcotics and paraphernalia.”

The car was impounded and further searched pursuant to a warrant obtained by police, which allegedly turned up “additional narcotics, paraphernalia” and a total of $5,269 in cash, plus five counterfeit $100 bills, several mixed in with the real money.

Police allegedly found a total of almost 10 ounces of marijuana, more than nine ounces of psilocybin mushrooms, six containers of what police believe to be THC extract, about a quarter-ounce of synthetic marijuana, an ounce of MDMA, a little more than a half-ounce of ecstasy tablets and powder, more than an ounce of methamphetamine and 216 1/2 LSD tabs, according to court papers.

They also reported finding 182 empty pill capsules, “numerous packages containing various color, size and shape bags,” dabber containers, several razor blades and a digital scale.

Shaffer was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka Thursday, the same day he waived a preliminary hearing on the initial charges of possessing drugs and paraphernalia, plus a summary count of disorderly conduct.

The earlier charges stemmed from other drugs and paraphernalia police allegedly found when they searched Shaffer’s bag and then his person the day of the festival.

Court records show Shaffer remains in Washington County jail with bond set at a total of $30,000 in both cases. A preliminary hearing on the new charges is set for Aug. 9.

Shaffer’s attorney, assistant public defender Kristin Fiori, declined comment on the new charges, saying she hadn’t had the chance fully to review them.
