Vehicles entered in North Strabane over weekend
North Strabane Township police are reminding residents not to leave valuables in their vehicles and to keep them locked after several vehicles were entered over the weekend.
The first report came in about 8 a.m. Sunday, with the thefts believed to have happened sometime overnight in the Woodridge plan off West McMurray Road.
A purse stolen from the front passenger seat of a vehicle on Amberwoods Drive was found in a neighbor’s vehicle. Identification was still in the purse, but the cash was gone. A gun was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Sweetbriar Drive.
Police obtained surveillance video from outside two homes on Oak Lane. The video shows a newer model white CRV driven by a white man in the area. The suspect work dark clothing and had a hooded shirt pulled over a ball cap. Police said it appears he was looking for unlocked vehicles, because he would try door handles, and if they did not open, he would move on.
Any resident with video or anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-746-8474.
