Man arrested following Charleroi foot chase, accused of dealing heroin
CHARLEROI – A Donora man wanted on a probation warrant was arrested on heroin charges Wednesday following a foot chase involving his probation officer.
Charleroi Regional police claim to have seized three bundles of heroin from Marcus Brandon Johnson, 26, after a Washington County probation officer chased him from the 1000 block of Fallowfield Avenue to Railroad Way, court records show.
The probation officer was driving a vehicle, followed by a Charleroi Regional officer, when she noticed Johnson walking on Fallowfield about 1:30 p.m.
He ran to Long Alley and down 10th Street, refusing her commands to stop, police stated in the affidavit. He also ran through several yards before a Charleroi officer captured him on Railroad Way, the record shows.
Police said they found the heroin hidden under a nearby parked vehicle.
Later, at the police station, Johnson allegedly said he ran because “I was just trying to get another day.”
Johnson, of 335 Third St., is charged with drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
He also was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Mark Wilson as a suspect in a May 21 burglary in Donora. Wilson set bond in that case at $10,000.
