O’Neal assigned to three committees
New state Rep. Tim O’Neal, R-North Strabane, this week was named to three House standing committees for the remainder of the 2017-18 legislative session.
His committee assignments are Environmental Resources and Energy, Gaming Oversight and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness.
“With my experience as a member of Army, I will be able to provide an important perspective to the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee,” O’Neal said. “In addition, as my district includes the Meadows Racetrack and Casino, I’m pleased to be able to advocate as a member of the Gaming Oversight Committee for this important Washington County employer and tourism generator. Finally, my work on the Environmental Resources and Energy Committee will allow for me to champion a balance between policies that allow for the growth of the Marcellus Shale industry, while also protecting our environment.”
O’Neal served in the ROTC program while in college and then on active duty in Afghanistan after graduation, rising to the rank of captain. While in combat, he was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for valor.
