A mixed-media mural created by Beth-Center Area High School students is scheduled for installation Tuesday at Lynda’s Ceramic Shop, 397 Front St., Fredericktown, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Through the support of the Claude Worthington Foundation, Beth-Center received funds to host a full-year teaching artist residency for the 2017-18 school year. The funds were made available to the district through the Rural Arts Collaborative – Arts Education Project, which is one of the initiatives of Fayette County Cultural Trust.

Beth-Center High School hosted teaching artist Codi Yoders Vanata, who worked with students in grades 9-12 to produce a variety of different conceptual pieces, including the multimedia mural, as well as some other pieces for both indoor and outdoor installation.

The large mural to be installed in Fredericktown is a mixed media piece that utilized several of the technologies available to Beth-Center students, including a laser etcher for acrylics, recycled materials and glass mosaic. Composed of four large panels, the mural highlights the history and wildlife of the region.
