Jury selection began Monday in Washington County Court in the case of a man facing several sexual assault counts, including charges stemming from the alleged rape of two girls at a Mt. Pleasant Township home.

Steven L. Czako, 45, of Midway, is being represented by Assistant Public Defender Jacob Mihalov.

Assistant District Attorney Kristin Clingerman said she could call eight to 11 witnesses, including County Detective Beverly Ashton.

The case against Czako, who has been lodged in the county jail since his arrest in August 2016, alleges that crimes took place between January 2002 and December 2015.

Testimony is scheduled to begin Wednesday in what is anticipated to be a three-day trial.
