CALIFORNIA
Harassment alleged: Maria Vallejo, 43, of California, was charged with harassment by California police after she allegedly harassed several tenants at Riverview Apartments, 399 First St., on March 1 by sending them threatening text messages.
Assault charge: James Tower Ritter Jr., 37, of California, was arraigned last week before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of simple assault and harassment filed by California police after a report of a domestic dispute Feb. 25 at Ritter’s apartment at 1008 Boulder Ave. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
Teen charged: A 17-year-old California girl was charged with disorderly conduct by California police after she allegedly fought with another person March 1 at California Area High School and acted aggressively toward school officials.
Disorderly house: Five people were charged by California police with violating the borough disorderly house ordinance in three separate incidents. Martin Aubrey, 18, and Ella Sepesy, 20, both of Uniontown, Charles Arrington Carr, 19, of Hermitage and Jaquan Assad Waller, 18, of Sharon, were charged for incidents at their apartments at Vulcan Village earlier this month. Michael Christopher Brown, 23, of 206 Second St., California, was charged for a Feb. 28 incident at his apartment.
CANONSBURG
Hoop stolen: Kelly Wingfield of 218 Grant St. told Canonsburg police Thursday that a basketball hoop was stolen from outside her home.
CANTON
Strangulation alleged: Drew Taylor Scholato, 26, of 97 Dewey Ave., Washington, was arraigned Friday by District Judge Traci McDonald on charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment filed by state police. He is accused of choking and kicking a woman March 4 at a home on Caldwell Avenue in Canton. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond.
CHARLEROI
Strangulation, assault arrest: Lamont James Cooper, 39, of 508 Prospect Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Thursday by Charleroi Regional police on charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment. He is accused of grabbing a woman by the throat and choking her, as well as punching her in the side of the head, during an alleged assault at his home earlier this week. He was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County Jail on $50,000 bond.
NORTH STRABANE
Theft charge: Justin R. Gamrod, 35, of 50 Shannon Ave., Washington, was charged this week by North Strabane police with theft of services after he allegedly failed to pay for $129.54 in food and beverages he ordered and consumed Feb. 4 at Buford’s Kitchen, 100 Adios Drive. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Harassment alleged: Gregory E. Grogan, 61, of 3105 Stonecreek Lane, Washington, was charged this week by North Strabane police with harassment after he allegedly sent 70 text messages earlier this month that were sexual in nature and/or threatening to his wife, who resides in the township. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
