A Charleroi councilman is facing a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after his vehicle collided with a police cruiser last week.
State police said charges will be filed against Larry M. Celaschi, 58, of Charleroi, after a trooper determined he was intoxicated at the scene of the crash in East Bethlehem Township.
State police were called to investigate the crash involving a Centerville police cruiser about 11 p.m. March 11 at Community Street and Route 88, according to a news release from state police.
The trooper who arrested Celaschi was not on duty Thursday, and the charges had not yet been filed at the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Celaschi declined to comment on his arrest Thursday. It was not immediately known if he had retained an attorney to represent him in the case.
