Cecil Township police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide inside an apartment Wednesday evening at 1400 Main in Southpointe.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said early Thursday morning a man and pregnant woman were found dead inside one of the units at Southpointe Town Center.

Cecil Township police said officers responded to reports of shots fired at about 7:15 p.m. and saw bullet holes in the wall of a second-floor hallway.

Washington County SWAT team was on scene as of 9 p.m., a Washington County 911 supervisor said.

The SWAT team sent a robot inside the apartment where they believed the shots came from after they were unable to get a response from inside the apartment, police said.

The bodies of the man and the woman, who was approximately seven months pregnant, were found inside, police said.

The couple lived together, but were not believed to be married, police said.

Assisting Cecil police were North Strabane and Canonsburg police departments and Muse Fire Department.

Despite reports of gunshots, no one initially reported seeing an active shooter in the area.

“They heard gunshots, but nobody has seen anyone shoot a gun,” a 911 supervisor said earlier Wednesday evening.

Staff writers Gideon Bradshaw and Kathie O. Warco contributed to this story.
