HANOVER

Theft arrest: Stephen Michael Newman, 27, of 44 Main St., Atlasburg, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Traci McDonald on charges of of theft, driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless endangerment after he allegedly got into the driver’s seat of a recreational vehicle and drove off at a high speed with several members of a band that just finished playing at a Hanover bar inside the vehicle. Members of the band were able to get him to stop and get out. Newman was taken to Washington Hospital, where blood was drawn. Police said his blood-alcohol content was 1 1/2 times the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $50,000 bond.

WASHINGTON

Wife arrested: Tina Lilley, 47, of 271 Locust Ave. Rear, Washington, was arrested early Wednesday by Washington police on a charge of aggravated assault after she allegedly stabbed her 47-year-old husband in the arm with a paring knife during an argument in their home. Police said they found blood in the kitchen sink and a paring knife that had been wiped clean. Lilley was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Pedestrian, driver identified: Washington police have identified the pedestrian struck and the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of East Beau and Lincoln streets. Clara Hegadorn, 20, of Zelienople, was the pedestrian. Hegadorn, who resides in Marshall Hall, was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. The driver was Wilda Helms, 78, of Wellness Way, South Strabane Township. Police are continuing their investigation.

Car damaged: James Talbert of Houston told Washington police Wednesday that tires on his Chevrolet Malibu were damaged while the car was parked in the 400 block of Allison Avenue.

Harassment alleged: Derrick Jones, 19, of 38 W. Walnut St., Washington, was charged by Washington police with harassment after allegedly hitting a 19-year-old woman in the face during an incident at their home Tuesday.
