CAnonsburg

Criminal mischief: Canonsburg police responded to 120 E. College St., for a report that a window of a church had been damaged over the weekend. Police said a teenage boy was seen throwing rocks at the church Saturday.

Warrant arrest: Canonsburg police arrested Samuel Higgins, 68, of Richeyville, Wednesday morning on a Washington County bench warrant for a firearms violation charge.

CARROLL

Fraud alleged: Robert Erin Jones, 46, of 327 Route 906, Rostraver Township, is charged by township police with two counts each of deceptive or fraudulent business practices and theft, court records show. He is accused of accepting money from a resident of Sunset Avenue and another of Craven Drive in April 2017 for lawn care services that were not performed. Police said the total loss to the victims is $1,731. District Judge Mark Wilson issued the charges Tuesday in a summons.

Theft alleged: Michael David Chaney II, 28, of 417 Prospect Ave., Donora, is charged by township police with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief, court records show. Police accuse Chaney of stealing a smartphone valued at $700 from Nicolette Hardison and throwing a rock through her car’s driver’s side window, causing $500 in damage, about 11:30 a.m. May 2 at Mon Valley Hospital, 1163 Country Club Road. District Judge Mark Wilson issued the charges Tuesday in a summons.

MONONGAHELA

Man charged: Chase Reed Pelissero, 27, of 777 Dry Run Road, Carroll Township, is charged by city police with trespassing, harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, court records show. Police accuse him of ignoring a no-trespassing sign, barging into a residence in the 400 block of Second Street and breaking a telephone about 5:30 p.m. May 4. District Judge Mark Wilson issued the charges in a summons Tuesday.

ROSTRAVER

Man jailed: Justin Christopher Levay, 32, of 245 W. McClain Road, Rostraver Township, is charged with drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show. Police accuse Levay of selling nine stamp bags of heroin to another man. An officer approached Levay about 9 a.m. April 27 regarding a complaint he was sitting in the middle of Municipal Drive near Cedar Creek Park. He was placed in Westmoreland County jail on $10,000 bond set Wednesday by District Judge Charles Christner.

SOUTH STRABANE

Assault arrest: Richard Scott Jewell, 32, who police said is homeless, was arrested Tuesday by township police on charges of simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly got into a fight with his girlfriend, Teresa Wasmer, in the parking lot of Walmart, Trinity Point, shortly after 10 p.m. She told police Jewell grabbed her face and pinned her so she could not exit the vehicle, then grabbed her hand, which was red and swollen, before she was able to free herself. Inside the vehicle, police said they found various pieces of paraphernalia. Jewell was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

WASHINGTON

Motorist charged: Victor L. Nichols, 37, of Washington, was charged with possession of marijuana and driving without a license after a traffic stop in the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, city police said. Police said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and found a baggie of the drug in his sock. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Retail theft charge: Velora M. Phillips, 58, of Washington, was charged Wednesday with retail theft for allegedly stealing socks from Dollar General, 710 Jefferson Ave., March 22, city police said. The charge will proceed by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Man assaulted: A homeless man was assaulted Monday night at South Main and Maiden streets, city police said. Samuel Simpson, 36, told police he was walking down South Main Street when he was attacked from behind and punched in the head. He said he did not see his attacker. He was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.

Burglary reported: Richard Brown of 221 S. College St. told Washington police the door to his apartment was kicked in Monday. Nothing was stolen, but a window was broken.

Unauthorized use: Marsha Kauffman of 137 Maple Terrace told Washington police Monday night her roommate took her rental vehicle without permission and had not returned it.
