Threat closes Rep. Snyder’s offices until further notice
An online threat was made to the staff and offices of state Rep. Pam Snyder, resulting in the closure of her district offices Friday.
Snyder announced on her Facebook page the threat, which has been forwarded to state Capitol police and Waynesburg Borough police, is under investigation.
Snyder said the threat was made through Facebook, and she takes “all threats seriously and will not allow staff to be in danger.”
The post in question has since been removed, but screenshots have been taken.
“Due to a recent threat to my offices and staff, all of my district offices are closed until further notice. Authorities have been informed and are investigating,” Snyder posted on her Facebook page.
Nate Regotti, Snyder’s chief of staff, said the threat was made on the page of a local neighborhood group. A post was made complaining about politics and Snyder, and a comment was left that said to “just go to their office and shoot them. Bang, bang,” Regotti said.
“We take these threats seriously,” Regotti said, adding they do not believe them to be credible, but do not want to take any chances.
Snyder hopes to have her district offices in Carmichaels, Waynesburg and Brownsville reopened by Monday. She said law enforcement will investigate over the weekend.
Staff will still monitor voicemails that come into the Carmichaels office remotely at 724-966-8953. Anyone who needs to drop off paperwork can do so through the mail slot at the Carmichaels office.
“If anyone needs us over the weekend, they’ll be able to find us,” Snyder said.
