Roscoe man arrested in Charleroi armed robbery
A Roscoe man was arrested by Charleroi Regional police after he allegedly robbed a McKean Avenue gas station clerk at knifepoint Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Robinson, 34, of 19 Ruth St., is accused of robbing the Gulf station at 62 McKean just after 2 p.m.
A clerk told police a white man wearing a black T-shirt and gray shorts demanded money from the register and threatened her with a knife. She said she removed money from the cash register and handed it to him. He then fled from the store, running north on Route 88. She told police she did not know the robber’s name but recognized him as a customer.
Two officers canvassed the area, while another officer checked video surveillance of the robbery, which confirmed what the clerk told police.
While the officer at the gas station was speaking to a store supervisor, the other officers said they had detained a man in the 500 block of Fallowfield Avenue who matched the description given by the clerk. They sent a photograph of the man in custody, and two station employees identified the man as the robber.
Robinson allegedly admitted to police he robbed the store.
Robinson was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit on charges of robbery, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Washington County jail on $325,000 bond. He is scheduled for a May 31 preliminary hearing before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
