AMWELL
One injured: Anthony Simpson, 49, of Orlando, Fla., was injured Wednesday when his vehicle crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 79 northbound in Amwell. State police said he was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. He was cited with failure to stay in his lane and failure to drive at a safe speed.
BURGETTSTOWN
Two charged: Jennifer Susan Champion, 35, and Jordan Michael Harvey, 27, both of 38 Second Ave., were arrested Sunday night by McDonald police on charges of simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness after allegedly assaulting each other during a confrontation outside a club on Main Street in Burgettstown. They were arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and released on $5,000 unsecured bonds.
CECIL
DUI alleged in crash: Rachel M. Ghelarducci, 33, of Houston, will be charged by Cecil police with driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance after police said she crashed her vehicle into a guardrail off the southbound lane in the 400 block of Route 980, about 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Police said her blood-alcohol content was more than double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. Drug tests also were conducted. Police said she was not injured.
FINLEYVILLE
Assault, PFA arrest: Eric William Lennon, 28, of Somerset, was arrested Saturday night by Monongahela police after he allegedly assaulted a woman and violated a protection-from-abuse order. He is accused of grabbing a woman by the throat during a confrontation at a bar on Route 88, Finleyville. He also allegedly violated a PFA order she obtained against him in Allegheny County. Lennon was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit on the PFA violation and charges of aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was placed in Washington County jail on $175,000 bond.
NORTH FRANKLIN
Charged in crash: Martha Monica Briggs, 34, of 241 E. Buffalo Church Road, Washington, was arrested early Sunday after she allegedly fled from state police and then crashed her vehicle. Police said they spotted Briggs pulling from the parking lot of a bar on West Chestnut Street in North Franklin, turning onto Mounts Road and then turning onto Moore Road. Police said she crossed the center line several times. Police said they attempted to stop her as she was driving about 75 mph, but she crashed into a utility pole. Police said her BAC was double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. She was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, DUI and several traffic violations. Briggs was released from Washington County jail after posting a $15,000 percentage bond.
ROSTRAVER
Woman charged: Rodneeka Lewis, 35, of 308 Sheldon Ave., Fairchance, is charged by township police with theft of leased property over allegations she rented a car valued at more than $15,000 from the Enterprise Rent-a-Car on Harper Drive at 11 a.m. April 17 and failed to return it on time, court records indicate. District Judge Charles Christner issued the charge Friday in a summons.
Assaults alleged: Mark Allen Murray, 38, and his wife, Sarah Irma Murray, 32, both of 208 Clark St., Rostraver Township, are charged by township police with simple assault stemming from a fight in their residence about 12:05 a.m. Saturday, court records allege. Both are free on $5,000 bonds set by District Judge Charles Christner.
WASHINGTON
Assault on officers alleged: Tina Moore, 53, of 26 Gibson Ave., was arrested Saturday afternoon after she allegedly assaulted two Washington police officers called to her home twice within a matter of minutes for a dispute between she and her son. She allegedly slapped one officer and then grabbed another by the arms. Police said they had to use a Taser to subdue her. Moore was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and resisting arrest. She was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. Her son, Barry Evans, 32, also of 26 Gibson, was charged with harassment.
Drug, cruelty arrest: Bertram Ray Mitchell, 61, of 473 E. Hallam Ave., was arrested Saturday morning on charges of possession of a controlled substance including cocaine and marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, having a prohibited offensive weapon, neglect of animals and cruelty to animals. Police were called to his home for an alarm. They said they found him inside his house with brass knuckles and the drugs. Found in his garage inside a vehicle were five pit bulls. Police said there was no water dish for the dogs and the area was filthy. Mitchell was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit and placed in Washington County jail on a $50,000 percentage bond.
False ID, theft charges: Sarah Lynn Severns, 27, of Karmann Road, Canonsburg, was charged Monday by Washington police with false identification to police, felony retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after she allegedly stole items Friday from Shop ‘n Save, 125 W. Beau St. She allegedly gave police her sister’s name. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Assault charge: William More, 61, of Washington, was charged Monday by Washington police with simple assault after he allegedly assaulted a woman during an April 30 confrontation at a home at 680 ½ Fayette St. He allegedly hit the woman in the head, causing a concussion. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Woman assaulted: Aileen Yater of Canton told Washington police Friday she was punched by a teenage boy as she worked in a yard at Maple Terrace. She followed the boy before losing sight of him as he ran behind a home in the 1000 block of Arch Street, Washington police said.
Damage reported: Vandals damaged a table and a few machines inside Snowy White Laundry, 1070 Jefferson Ave., Saturday.
