WAYNESBURG – A number of criminal defendants recently appeared in Greene County Common Pleas Court for pleas and sentencing.

Michelle E. Kelly, 34, of 1311 S. Branch Muddy Creek Road, Carmichaels; pleaded guilty April 24 before Greene County Judge Lou Dayich to counts of access device fraud, theft, receiving stolen property, identity theft and conspiracy; between June 28 and July 12, 2016, Kelly used another person’s bank card to make purchases at various stores; she also let another woman use the card for the same purposes; sentence: 5 years in the county intermediate punishment program with the first six months on house arrest; $1,422.90 in restitution; 50 hours of community service.

Devin Tennant, 22, of 111 Route 21 Mobile Home Park, Carmichaels; pleaded no contest July 12 to unauthorized use of a vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle, recklessly endangering, reckless driving, failure to report an accident and driving while his operating privileges were suspended or revoked; on Aug. 20, 2016, Tennant was driving a vehicle without the owner’s permission and crashed in Rices Landing; he fled; sentenced April 25 by Judge Farley Toothman to 24 months in the state intermediate punishment program, which includes 7 months in prison with institutional and then community-based drug and alcohol treatment; $850 in fines; $3,380 in restitution; 150 hours of community service.

Paige Elaine McClure, 22, of 102 Main St., New Freeport; pleaded no contest April 23 before Judge Farley Toothman to retail theft; on April 16, McClure attempted to steal $1,558.99 worth of merchandise from the Walmart store in Franklin Township; sentence: 6 months of probation.

Adam Glenn White, 33, of 787 Big Shannon Run Road, Mt. Morris, pleaded guilty April 30 before Judge Lou Dayich to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; on March 9, 2017, police searched White’s home and found half of a pound of marijuana, a box containing tar heroin, a variety of pills and drug paraphernalia, $11,993 and numerous guns; sentence: 6 months to 5 years in jail, credit for time served from Nov. 24; $500 fine; 80 hours of community service; waives extradition to West Virginia on additional drug charges; required to forfeit items found in his home, including guns and cash.

Carl Scott Dulaney, 36, of 1073 Aleppo Road, Aleppo, was found guilty May 1 in a nonjury trial before Judge Lou Dayich on charges including driving under the influence of alcohol, his third DUI offense in 10 years; he was arrested Sept. 29 following a single-vehicle crash in Franklin Township; his blood-alcohol content was 0.151 percent; sentence: 100 days to 5 years in jail, permitted to serve the sentence on weekends; $1,725 in fines; 75 hours of community service.

Andrew Wyatt Grim, 22, of W. Roy Furman Highway, Wind Ridge, pleaded guilty May 8 before Judge Lou Dayich to simple assault and harassment. Charges of unlawful restraint and terroristic threats were dismissed. Greene County Regional police said Grim’s former girlfriend told officers Feb. 28 he contacted her to persuade her to drop a protection-from-abuse order and also threatened to kill her. She also told police of an incident in November that prompted the protection order, in which Grim prevented her from leaving their shared home. Sentence: One year of probation, a $500 fine, 60 hours of community services, anger-management classes and no contact with the victim.

Samuel Thomas Hlatky, 36, of 19 Center St., Masontown, pleaded guilty May 8 before Judge Lou Dayich to two DUI charges, driving with a suspended license and no rear lights. Cumberland Township police pulled Hlatky over Nov. 5, 2017, at Nemacolin Road and Cross Street in Cumberland Township. Hlatky failed a field-sobriety test and later tested positive for cocaine. Sentence: 72 hours to six months of incarceration in Greene County jail, deferred to May 18, a $1,225 fine, five sessions of driver improvement school, a driver’s license suspension and 60 hours of community service.

David M. Conaway, 21, of 12 Cumberland Village, Carmichaels, pleaded guilty May 8 before Judge Lou Dayich to resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Cumberland Township police responded to Conaway’s residence Sept. 28, 2016, for a domestic dispute. Conaway punched a glass door and was combative with officers during the investigation, refusing to obey commands, attempting to leave and banging his head and kicking the partition in the cruiser. Sentence: Two years of probation, $550 in restitution to the victim, fines from summary offenses when Conaway was admitted to the ARD program due to his later revocation and 100 hours of community service.

Christian Tyler Brown, 22, of 209 S. Pine St., Carmichaels, pleaded guilty May 8 before Judge Lou Dayich to possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and six summary driving violations. A charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was dismissed. Cumberland Township police pulled Brown over March 23, 2017, and found drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Sentence: Two years of probation, a $600 fine, maintain currently enrolled mental health treatment and 40 hours of community service.
