N.J. man to stand trial on North Strabane child-sex charges

Benny A. Samosan
A district judge ordered a New Jersey man to stand trial on charges he sexually assaulted a girl three times at a North Strabane Township motel in 2016 and 2017.
Benny A. Samosan, 39, of Bloomfield, N.J., was ordered held for court by District Judge Jay Weller after a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges including aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors.
Officer Nathan Terling, who filed the charges against Samosan, said the alleged victim told him all three sexual encounters took place at the Super 8, 8 Curry Ave. The girl, who resides in Washington County, was 12 and 13 at the time of the alleged assaults.
Terling obtained a warrant for Samosan, who is a Merchant Marine and had been at sea. He turned himself in for arraignment last month.
Samosan remains free on a $100,000 percentage bond and has been ordered to have no contact with the girl. He is scheduled to be formally arraigned on the charges June 28.
