Burgettstown man arrested for intimidation, making threats
A Burgettstown man already facing trial on assault charges in the stabbing of a 21-year-old Burgettstown man last December was arrested by McDonald police Tuesday night for allegedly threatening the same man.
Jeffrey Ryan Painter Jr., 26, of 122 Center Ave., was arrested on charges of intimidation of witnesses, terroristic threats, stalking, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Police were on patrol when they were called to a fight in a parking lot at 1412 Main St., Burgettstown, about 8:45 p.m. When the officer pulled into the lot, he saw Painter arguing with the stabbing victim’s father. The man who was stabbed, now 22, told police that he also was involved in the altercation but was trying to get his father away from Painter.
The man told police that Painter had stabbed him six times last December and that the other man was to have no contact with him. He told police that when he went to pick up his girlfriend after she ran to get away from Painter, Painter followed the vehicle they were in to the parking lot.
Painter allegedly threatened the man, telling him that he was going to assault him and that “you know what will happen.” The stabbing victim also told police that this is not the first time he has run into Painter around town, and that the other man has made threats, but not to that level.
The victim’s girlfriend told police she had gone to Painter’s home to gather her belongings. She told police that she was formerly involved with him. When she told Painter that she was going to have her cousin pick her up, he allegedly threatened to stab the cousin and tried to grab her as she was leaving, but she was able to get away.
Painter is scheduled for trial in January on charges of aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a weapon, disorderly conduct, harassment and possession of marijuana. He allegedly stabbed the other man, who had to be treated at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh, five times in the shoulder and once in the neck after an argument.
Painter was arraigned Wednesday morning on the new charges before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. He is scheduled for a Nov. 5 preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Havelka.
