Charleroi man wanted in assault
CHARLEROI – A Charleroi man is wanted on charges he threatened his girlfriend with a handgun before striking her several times in the head while she held their child.
Charleroi Regional police obtained a warrant for the arrest of Rashaad Hairston, 22, of 1112 Meadow Ave., on a string of charges stemming from the Nov. 4 domestic violence case, court records allege.
Police were summoned about 10:45 p.m. that day to the 1017 McKean Ave. residence of Mya Allums to take a complaint from her regarding her boyfriend, whom she claimed assaulted her and fled.
Allums said, “He hit me and broke my teeth,” police stated in the affidavit.
She said they argued after he walked into her apartment and complained about their child not being asleep.
Allums said he pulled a black pistol from his waistband and waved it around the room after she told him to leave. She also accused him of striking her in the head repeatedly. She refused medical treatment for her injuries.
Police charged Hairston with burglary, aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment, reckless endangerment, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
District Judge Larry Hopkins last week signed a warrant for Hairston’s arrest.
