Fire destroys three trucks from Fallowfield municipal fleet
A state police fire marshal is expected to begin investigating what caused a fire early Friday inside the Fallowfield Township garage, where three dump trucks with snow plows were destroyed.
“It doesn’t appear there is any type of foul play,” said Fallowfield Volunteer Fire Company Chief Anthony Fleming. “It appears to be accidental.”
As the first snow of the winter of 2018-19 was falling, the Fallowfield department was summoned at 2:32 a.m.

Firefighters work to extinguish a blaze early Friday at the municipal garage in Fallowfield Township.
Fighting the fire alongside them were personnel from Charleroi, Lock Four, Stockdale and Bentleyville.
Mon Valley Emergency Medical Services also responded, but Fleming said no one was injured and no one was inside the garage when the fire ignited.
“This collaborative effort would result in saving the building from complete destruction with minor fire damage,” the fire department posted on its Facebook page.
“All three trucks are a total loss. As a community, please try to have patience as our township supervisors and employees do what they need to do to get back on their feet, and don’t be afraid to stop by and show your support. We thank all of our mutual aid for their assistance this morning.”
The fire chief said he did not know how many plows had been deployed Thursday night, but that the last run was performed at about midnight.
“Other trucks were outside of the garage,” Fleming said.
“One or two were not involved.”
