Sheetz seeks to sell beer, wine in Monongahela
MONONGAHELA – A Sheetz convenience store in Monongahela has applied to the city for permission to sell beer and wine.
City Council has scheduled an Oct. 10 hearing to receive comments on the proposal to transfer a restaurant liquor license from Burgettstown to the Monongahela store, the city’s solicitor, Todd M. Pappasergi, said.
Pappasergi said he hasn’t heard about any opposition to the store offering beer and wine on its shelves.
He said the city is fulfilling its obligation to hold a hearing on the application.
The application involves an intermunicipal transfer of a restaurant liquor license from Sven Inc., 3 Bartleyville Road in Burgettstown, to the Sheetz at 111 E. Main St., Monongahela.
The Altoona-based Sheetz has been selling beer in its Pennsylvania convenience stores since 2007. It currently offers beer for sale in 93 stores in the state, said Sheetz spokeswoman Laura Hager.
The hearing will begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 449 W. Main St.
