Washington police identify pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle
Washington police have identified a man who died after he was hit by a vehicle Wednesday night.
City police Detective Dan Rush said family members identified the victim as Scott Jeffers, 46, of 1078 Addison St., Washington.
Jeffers was hit while crossing West Chestnut Street near Hayes Avenue around 7:30 p.m. He was not carrying identification when he was struck, and there were no reports of a missing person matching his description, police originally said, leading to the difficulty identifying him.
The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. Jeffers was taken by ambulance to Washington Hospital before being flown to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh, where he was pronounced dead Thursday morning.
The investigation is ongoing.
