Pedestrian killed in North Strabane Township

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning at Route 19 and Weavertown Road in North Strabane Township. The driver reportedly did not stop.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said the victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was hit in the northbound lanes of Route 19 (Washington Road). The victim was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m.

North Strabane Township police are investigating. Assisting were North Strabane Fire Department, Canonsburg Ambulance, Peters Township Police Department and the state police forensic services and accident reconstruction units.

Last Wednesday, a man was killed when he was hit by a vehicle in Washington. Scott Jeffers, 46, of 1078 Addison St., was struck while crossing West Chestnut Street near Hayes Avenue.

The driver in that incident stopped and cooperated with police.
