A 23-year-old Pittsburgh man was flown to Allegheny General Hospital with unknown injuries following a crash Tuesday morning that closed Interstate 70 west in South Strabane Township.

State police said Akil Young, the man who was flown, had been driving a minivan in the right lane near the Beau Street exit at 9 a.m., when his vehicle struck the end of a guardrail. His van rotated clockwise on I-70, and was struck by a tractor-trailer traveling in the left lane.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was John Lane Porter Jr., 40, of West Virginia, but state police did not specify if he was injured in the crash.

South Strabane firefighters and Ambulance and Chair Service responded to the scene. The highway reopened about 9:45 a.m.
