Two people were injured Tuesday morning when a garbage truck crashed on Route 88 (Low Hill Road) at Barney’s Run Road in Centerville, near the East Bethlehem Township line.

Centerville police Lt. Route 88 had to be closed for about five hours and traffic detoured until the debris was removed.

Police are checking the truck for any violations. The truck was towed and impounded. Assisting at the scene was the state police accident reconstruction unit.

Also assisting were firefighters from East Bethlehem Township, Denbo-Vesta Six and Richeyville, along with the Washington County Hazardous Materials Team and state Department of Transportation.
